The cats at Loyang are stabilised now with the 4+1 regulars: BD, Allison, Sissy, Abang Black-nose (Sissy and Black-nose now frequent Costa Sands and the JLB condos etc.) + Cafe’s tuxy. There were 4 or 5 newbies which now is reduced to 2, probably due to territorial issues. These newbies are like phamtoms. Seen in the early hours of morning or after dark only. And VERY DIFFICULT to track/catch. 

Changi already had one ginger sterilised. Saturday 2 boys were nabbed and sent to Clinic For Pets for the snipping. I had intended to start with A’s kitty at the recept but he escaped when I tried to nab him so I had to postpone him to another day. Discussed with I**** to start with the NBs first. We have decided to finish off with the NBs and office area first. 

Area clustering plan:

Cluster 01A – Office, CC, CHA-D, NBs, HBs, CHL

Cluster 01B – CHF-I, YCs

Cluster 02 – BHBs (expect complications as some cats observed coming from the air control and the nursing home. probably being fed by the people there)

AVA bid to improve pet shop standards via compulsory pet care course

Hopefully with this compulsory course, the pet shops will start using what they learn at the course and give better advice to pet owners. I myself have boycotted several petshops for flippantly dishing silly advice. 

Good and timely advice is important as many pet owners are prone to dump their pets for “disobedience” which can be very easily resolved such as by sending their dogs for obedience training from a young age and learning how to “read” their pets’ responses etc.

However, the major part is played by pet-owners though. Many own pets for prestige/glam/trend-following and do not truly love animals or even just their pet. These selfish people treat their pets as mere accessories, not living beings in need of care and love. The slightest issue such as the puppy drooling on an “expensive shoe” or a kitten sleeping on the owner’s favourite scarf which the owner had carelessly placed (in the first place) would deal the death-sentence on the poor animal.

Yes, CARE and LOVE for the pet is the crux of eliminating pet abandonment. 

Take for example (1): My colleagues’ cat pissed into her new laptop causing it to breakdown, SMELL and needing a replacement of the motherboard which set her back hundreds of dollars. But all she did was to sigh, pay for the repair and bear with the smell. All for LOVE for that kitty of hers.

Example (2): My Billy tends to urinate in the most unwanted places, but we understood that this was due to urinary problems and quickly tried to resolve his urinary problems instead of thinking of “throwing him away” or losing our tempers on him.

The same Billy due to his megacolon, either has constipation or diarrhea. Constipation causes him to vomit all over the place. Diarrhea as you know drips all over the place as well. Nope, still no thoughts of “throwing him away” or losing tempers.

Guest what, these problems I have bore since Billy was a tiny kitty 3 years ago till no and NO, I do not cringed at cleaning poo-poo with my hands as I have to wash Billy’s backside often.

The issue is still largely on the ATTITUDE people, especially urban dwellers, take on other living beings. The Gahment has taken a step towards helping pet-owners. The questions is… how much help is there for the animals?

Due to the closure of aloha for QC use, the aloha cats are re-shuffling!!!

The old cats are all gone, with exception of Alison who is being fed by the Cisco right now. And I have seen 2 new cats. 

Shoot! I’ll have to re-start TNR when the place is open again. Damn! Damn! DAmn!

And I thought I could start TNR at Changi soon once I manage to convince the cleaner uncles and aunties there to agree to sterilising “their” cats…

P.S. My cousin C called me this morning asking for help, cos D picked up ANOTHER kitten. This time not 1 but 2. I turned her down. I’m not kitten shelter sia… They shouldn’t go around picking up kittens unless sick/injured or for adopting themselves. Usually kittens can fend for themselves or otherwise the mummy is nearby… Hope D wun make it a habit esp since his mum is not supportive unlike mine.

MONSTERS VS ALIENS

I came by a kitten yesterday at the junction near Blk 415 PR Dr 6. It was just sitting at the side of the pavement and looking lost. It was sooo friendly once it overcome its fear of the traffic and tried to play with me when I checked his collar!

I checked its flowery collar but no name or address. I hope if the kitten *it looks about 6 months old and is super skinny!* is lost, it will find its owner or home fast. It seemed frightened of the traffic and most stray cats are too hardy to be like him…
