Say no to animals in pet-shops

Say no to animals in pet-shops. This is an aussie movement. I think its terrific. They are passing a bill and petition for sale of mammals to be banned in petshops, markets etc. as there are too many irreesponsible pet owners dumping their unwanted impulse buys.

The buy-on-impulse and dump-when-it-becomes-uncute phenomenon is worldwide. I hope the bill when successfully passed in Australia and the US, will jolt other countries into banning animal sales in pet-shops too. Having this ban in Singapore will not come as soon though, I feel, especially after that chilling response from AVA to SPCA’s request to restrict import, breeding, sale of pedigree dogs in Feb 08
